Childcare allowance is a contribution from the government and employees towards the costs of childcare. Whether you are entitled to childcare allowance depends on your personal situation. In general, the following conditions apply, among others:
- You receive child benefit or a foster parent contribution for your child, or you significantly contribute to your child's upkeep.
- You and your potential allowance partner have Dutch nationality or a valid residence permit.
- You and your potential allowance partner work, study, or are following a pathway to employment. You may also be eligible if you are required to take an integration course at a certified institution.
- Do you or your partner have a permanent indication under the Long-Term Care Act (Wlz)? Then, under certain conditions, there may also be an entitlement to childcare allowance.
Do you want to know exactly which conditions apply to your situation? Then view the information from the Benefits and Allowances Department.
Are you not eligible for childcare allowance, but do you still wish to use childcare? Or is your toddler at risk of a (language) delay? In some cases, the municipality may reimburse part of the costs.
