Habituation hours
When your child starts at childcare, they need time to get used to the new environment. Therefore, we gradually build up the childcare hours in consultation.
- Daycare (KDV): We advise starting the settlement period approximately one week before the start of your work. Because your child will not immediately attend full childcare days during this period, you will receive 8 exchange service hours from the contract date. These are valid for 1 year.
- Out-of-School Care (BSO): The settlement period starts upon placement and the first after-school care. You will receive 4 exchange service hours for this, valid for 1 year. These can be used for an extra childcare session, provided there is space in the group.
- Preschool: Children at preschool have shorter attendance and do not need to stay overnight. Consequently, the settlement period is usually limited. There is no exchange service for preschool, and therefore no settlement hours are allocated.
All allocated acclimatization and exchange service hours can be used via Konnect for an extra childcare session, provided there is space in the group.
Exchange service hours (KDV and BSO)
Exchange service is an extra service and not a right. Report an absence at least 36 hours in advance via Konnect to accrue exchange service hours. An exchange request will only be approved if group occupancy and staff planning permit.
Important conditions
Exchange service hours are valid within the same calendar year in which they were accrued and are person-specific. They can only be used for the child who accrued the hours. Requesting an extra childcare day or cancelling a childcare day is possible up to a maximum of 12 weeks in advance.
Upon termination of a contract, accrued exchange service hours expire. All conditions regarding acclimatization and exchange service hours can be found in the product terms and conditions as well as Kappio's habituation-policy (Wenbeleid).
